Specsavers Celebrates 35 Years in Southport
Locally owned Specsavers store in Southport is celebrating 35 years in the town centre, while also shining a light on something many residents may not realise - it is very much a local business.
The store is owned and run by local directors Victoria Dunn, Rebecca Billington and Mark Roberts, all of whom live in the area and have long-standing ties to the community.
Victoria and Rebecca said:
“We are really excited to be celebrating our 35th birthday here in Southport. Customers will be able to spin the wheel for further discounts and prizes in store on the 8th, 9th and 10th May.
We’re also looking forward to celebrating with our team at Volare on Lord Street.”
They added: “All three of us live locally and we’ve been here for a long time. There are 30 people who work at Specsavers in Southport, and we are very invested in developing people’s careers.
“Many of them have been with us for years; one of our colleagues has been here for over 25 years. We also support young people through work experience opportunities, helping them to learn new skills.”
Community involvement remains a key focus for the team.
“We have a huge passion for our local community, getting involved with a number of local initiatives, and this year we have chosen Queenscourt Hospice as our Charity of the Year.”
A determined group of 12 team members will be taking part in the 10k Southport Star Trekk walk for Queenscourt Hospice on the evening of Friday 8th May 2026, while other colleagues will be on hand to cheer participants on and hand out sweets along the route.
In store, customers can browse a wide range of glasses on the ground floor, while the first floor offers contact lenses, audiology services and eye tests using the latest technology.
Rebecca added: “Thanks to our technology, our accreditation and our levels of staff training, we offer a wide range of clinical eye health services. When people contact their GP or hospital about eye conditions, they are often referred to us.
“The health of your eyes is something everyone should look after. We can detect a range of conditions through eye tests, as well as assessing your vision and whether you may benefit from additional support.”
