Hole In 1 Golf Tees Up Fun The 154th Open
Southport town centre’s only dedicated golf shop is getting ready to celebrate The 154th Open Golf Championship with a special Activation Zone, along with extended opening hours.
The Hole In 1 Golf shop has been a huge success since opening its doors at 203 Lord Street, opposite The Vincent Hotel, before Christmas last year.
This local independent family-owned business is operated by golf-loving local family Glyn and Lisa Richards and son, Max, who have fond memories about previous Open tournaments coming to Southport, and are very excited about this one coming.
Between 16 -19 July, Hole in 1 are preparing a special Activation Zone at their shop, where people can come along and play golf-themed games:
- Golf Darts
- Spin The Wheel
- Pick A Player Raffle
- Live Dune Radio Drivetime Show with Andy Hilbert 4pm-7pm on Thursday 16th July
The store will also have extended opening hours to welcome visitors, opening 9am-8pm from Monday 13th July through to Sunday 19th July.
Glyn and Lisa and Max said: “We’d love to invite everyone to come and join the party at Hole In 1 Golf from Thursday 16th July!
“Our Activation Zone will have fun games with great prizes to be won, sponsored by Callaway.
“We will be playing live golf from Royal Birkdale Golf Club.
“Dune Radio will be here live with us on Thursday evening’s drive home with presenter Andy Hilbert.
“We will be open late all week so pop down and see what we have to offer.
“Southport is famous for being at the heart of ‘England’s golf coast’ with so many top quality golf courses, so we’re looking to reach out to local people and also to visitors from around the world who are coming to enjoy The Open in Southport.
“It’s going to be a fabulous week in Southport with lots of venues hosting live music, and events like The Market Quarter Festival.
“We have some brilliant attractions in town too. We’ve partnered with Masters Crazy Golf at Kings Gardens, which has seen people coming to play its 18 holes for the past 61 years. We sponsor their course and if you come and spend £50 in our shop we’ll give you a voucher for a free game there.
“Southport will be a vibrant place to be, with lots for people to enjoy. If you’re been to Royal Birkdale to enjoy The Open, don’t miss your chance to come into Southport town centre afterwards! Come and see what Southport’s all about.
“Lisa and I have just been to enjoy The Open pre-qualifying at West Lancs Golf Club.
“We absolutely loved it! It’s such an amazing tournament.”
And their favourite to win The Open?
They said: “Everyone in Southport wants Tommy Fleetwood to win! What an amazing story that would be!
“It would be great to see Tommy win The Open in his home town.
“He will certainly inspire a new generation of golfers in Southport and across the world.
“We want to see people get out there and enjoy playing golf!
“We think Scottie Scheffler’s probably the favourite to win the tournament though - he’s just on fire at the moment.
“But you never know!”
Hole In 1 Golf has become an integral part of the Lord Street boulevard since it opened last year.
Glyn and Lisa and Max said:
“At Hole In 1 Golf we offer fantastic money off savings across our wide range of golf clubs, men’s and ladies’ clothing, golf shoes and more.
“Here you’ll find an extensive selection of top golf brands, all at unbeatable prices.
“We offer a price match guarantee so we will match the price it is online anyway, but with the added experience of being able to see, feel and try on what you’re looking to buy to make sure it’s right for you.
“Call in and say hello if you’re in town!”
